SuperConductors – the future of computing? May 27, 2009

Posted by Jake in Uncategorized.

Super conductors are metals that alows electrons to move around them with no resistance at all. That means no heat the main limitation to the speed of all CPU’s.

This could alow computers to run at extreem speeds without making any wasted heat energy.

Before you start serching amazon for a superconductor based PC their is one huge limitation to this. For a metal to be a superconductor they need to be brought down to extreemly cold conditions. Sub -250 oc. As you may have noticed, that is cold. So cold that it may never be the future of computing infact. But imagine computers nolonger making any heat energy making them even more energy efficent.

I hope this is the future and who knows we could be working on extreemly fast computers, built with superconductor CPU’s inside.
